My only guess is it something to do with multi-core CPU, because there are many unknowns in multi-core land and I guess it needs polishing. You can try and test if this problem goes away if you disable HT/DC (whatever the setting) in BIOS and run MenuetOS on a single CPU core.

I have ran MenuetOS on an i7 system where there are 4 physical cores (8 logical with HT), but 6 physical cores is something else entirely.

So, please post back for any successful or unsuccessful attempts and I will try to figure out something else

EDIT: I just noticed that in config.mnt the SMP option is disabled by default.

There has got to be another problem. I just don't know what it is. Maybe you could list your full specs. What kind of mouse/keyboard and in what port. What resolutions does your monitor support.

I've got a HP 6550b notebook here with i5 CPU inside and 95Q starts up fine.

EDIT2: I booted with SMP enabled and MenuetOS told me there was no MP/PCMP table. I think I need to look deeper into reading SMBIOS tables or getting CPU count from somewhere else.

I've got a half-solution. Try pulling off your mouse and keyboard and let MenuetOS boot with its default settings. If it still restarts, then its not a USB problem. Of course you won't be able to play with it - just see if it changes anything.

Maybe its the floppy, the do get very picky when they get older. Just try to rewrite it or try another floppy. If the situation changes, it was the floppy disk.

Usually USB-mice/keyboards either work or they don't. Restart is really unexpected.
