Hi,
First we need to know where to look:
About X3000 - http://softwarecommunity.intel.com/articles/eng/1487.htm
This is the best candidate for MenuetOS's support for 2D/3D graphics or only partial graphics acceleration.
http://oss.intel.com/en-us/ - Okay, Intel is "the man" Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I like the way their thinking is changing. First of the sites was this one:
http://intellinuxgraphics.org/

Not only graphics, but ethernet, too:
http://download.intel.com/design/network/p...uals/316080.pdf
There are more! http://www.intel.com/products/ethernet/index.htm (choose the one, that has "Manual" with the other documents - they should be really close in design I suppose).

What I've read about graphics, I've created a picture (an illusion?) in my mind that WDT and DMA are the two great things in developing a driver for this kind of device. I might be wrong because I've seen mostly Linux drivers. I hope there's a quick and slip way to make a driver for MenuetOS. Whether its 10/100/1000/.. ethernet driver or a 960/3000 series graphics driver.

Not only Intel, but i.e. VIA:
http://www.osnews.com/story/19795/VIA_Unve...Notebook_Design
but actually reading the news and their site I think I got the wrong idea about open hardware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source_hardware)

This topic will be a collection of materials found all over the Google (I mean Internet) and any success or failure stories.

The first failure story:
==============
I downloaded the 4 HUGE manuals from IntelLinuxGraphics site and I researched one specific assignment that I made to myself. Change the LCD brightness of my laptop. No matter up/down or totally blank. Just some indication that it worked.

The interesting parts in these documents were:
VOL1 p.160,186
LBB F4-F7h (0=low - 255=high)

VOL3 p.155
PIPEBSTAT 71024h bit22=1
bit6:event detect
write1=delete

VOL1 p.167
GTTMMADR 35:21 bits are important
(address signals)
...
GMADR 35:29 bits
...
IOBAR 15:3
...

VOL1 p.180
GDRST C0h 4:2 000=full reset

I didn't get anywhere because I couldn't have access to the right regions and I don't understand half the talk there :S

EDIT: Just for a memo - one failure was the newest Compal FL90 VBI with T9300 4GB RAM and X3000 series GFX. It changed the resolution fine, but it didn't get past 24 dots on the black background. I'm not making it official yet. Testing in progress!

EDIT2: Got it working with 0.84B USB disabled...something fishy
