Use Image Writer in Linux (Ubuntu) to write the .img file to a USB thumb drive, then, assuming you have set your BIOS to boot from a USB device, reboot the computer.

I wish to second the poster above who wishes there was support for eeePC devices. I tried both the 32 and 64 bit version on my eeePC 1000HA and only the 32 bit version would boot. Most of the peripherals were not supported.
