Okay, cordata51, your code worked. Now I need to fix the size of the image
4.87GB is too much for a USB-stick, mine is 256MB (249 with FAT32 formatting), but it really showed the dump
I've got another USB-stick which is 128MB and its formatted with HPs own utility. It has got three Menuets on it M32084, M64056 and M64057. M64056 is the one with test-MP, but anyway none of them boot correctly. 64-bit ones say that config.mnt is invalid and the 32-bit one loops after switching to 1024x768 mode - somewhere in one of those jmp $. I don't get how some parts get loaded and then others not.
I didn't know how to use the StartKrn.asm so I MeOSload.asm and this successfully loads some parts of the MSETUP.EXEs. The only other tool I use is the quickmsetup.exe from GridWorks because MeOSload.asm doesn't want to use IMGs - maybe it could be rewritten, but not by me.
And this thing about using "raw" to describe the way of writing. I mean Hexplorer is able to HEX-VIEW the whole drive. No matter is it a system C-drive of USB-stick mounted as A: whatever. The first sector is always the first and nothing is hidden unless hardware steps in the way. Btw, I've written all my 512-byters this way
But I'm 100% sure there was a problem with the boot sector, not the soft I'm using.
Somehow I need to tell my HP machine that the boot sector is legit. My previous attempts failed. Maybe some checksums I missed, don't know - but if yours works it gives me hope. I think we will soon be able to load 1.38MB so some area in RAM and run it. I wish it was possible... MenuetOS 64 0.57 on my laptop
:D:D
